Edge Of Mind EP

These Camo & Krooked chaps have certainly made some discrete waves
recently and will appeal to anyone who love the more poppy, fizzy
aspect of D&B, think Chase & Status, not to mention the fizzy don himself, John B, on who's imprint this delicious ep blasts forth. 'Mindset' you will know, a deceptive, flirty little beast which at first appears to set itself up to drop full-scale Mutated Forms or RAM-style uglyness but instead sets happily off on a bright, crunchy tangent. Like JB's electro work, Camo & Crooked can work as a fresh breath of air mid set, and is superb for that switch for which you may be yearning if it all gets a bit murky. 'Time Is Ticking Away' has a distinct Euro feel, that female sample residing just right on a perfect mix, should be a Eurovision entry and that's no diss. 'Numbers', a JB banger of much note is given the remix treatment here and is quite simply a smasher, total hands in the air material, I can just see the crazyeyed blonde one himself throwing devil horns to
massed cameraphones when this drops. Rounding off this brilliant ep is 'Skyline', no, not the Blame anthem but like that killer it's a slab of contemporary synth-driven widescreen d&b. 'Edge Of Mind' is an essential purchase of feel-good d&b and a great precurser to Camo &
Krooked's 'Above and Beyond' opus.
