No More Idols Reviews

Written on 19/03/2011

Pretty disappointed Flashing Lights gets cut off halfway through the track.

Agree with the top comment, if you don't like a blend of musical styles with your Drum & Bass stay away, but for me the whole album is epic!

No Problem, Hocus Pocus and Blind faith (Ft. Liam Bailey taken from their recent single release Blind Faith which is massive!) are more more synth heavy the rest of the album mixes in more traditional sounds.

Real change in style putting them firmly in the same category as Pendulum and the The prodigy. If you like creativity then get on it!

If you liked pendulum, Hadouken! or The Prodigy's recent take on drum and bass this will likely be to your tastes.

If you're after a traditional drum and bass vibe you will be disappointed. This doesn't mean its a bad album however.

I commend Chase and Status for breaking out of the mould and creating a guitar heavy drum and bass album.

As for the comment on the album not having an identity I disagree. There isn't really a song that stands out like a sore thumb in style, they compliment each other. However if you don't like the style to begin with, of course you'll be annoyed with the whole album.

Like Pendulum and Hadouken - Worth getting if you want to break up your play list with a little more "live band" sounding energy or if you're new to the scene and want to try a drum and bass influenced album before hitting the heavy stuff.

Gotta agree with the previous comment. There's one thing to be diverse musically, but this album doesn't seem to have any identity of its own.

The only tracks that feel like Chase & Status tracks are the ones where it's just them ('No Problem' and 'Hocus Pocus') or when Plan B shows up ('Fool Yourself' and 'End Credits'). That's only four out of fifteen tracks. The other eleven tracks are average at best.

A seriously average effort from a duo that has raised the bar with every previous release. Good, but a huge disappointment for any true fan. Hocus Pocus is a massive track. A diamond in the rough. It just seems like they have become more interested in arranging cameos rather than crafting huge bangers.
