One of the many recent 'names to watch' -yes, that old chestnut- of
the '09 is Jubai, already established via fluent sci-fi-etched killers such as 'Outcast', 'Unforgiven' and 'Project 1' and
leaving a distinct impression with the likes of Alix Perez, Friction,
Icicle and Spectrasoul. Jubei's linked up with Phobia (and Treez)
previously with the majestic roller 'Borrowed Time' and this hits the ground running with a seasoned flourish: 'The Fugitive' goes straight in to the fray, layering understated strings over a steely vibe that may in part remind some of Decoder or Technical Itch from time. Strident, brazen and bang on point, one can easily see 'The Fugitive' smashing a Headz night to tiny platinum splinters! Cooper's Dream' flips the script but only slightly, opting to drop the vibe a few frosty fathoms into Exit Records territory, abyss-deep but with one unsleeping eye on the floor: proper things then.
