Zero T is a quiet, smooth operator in many ways, having dropped quite
a few golden moments over time, most notably the bona fide destroyer
'Refusal', and amassing a sterling release history via labels such as
CIA, Bassbin, Liquid V and Integral. Whoa. Now he's focusing on
something new, an imprint called 'Footprints' which promises rich
collabs and the sort of fresh unpredictability which inspired him
about d&b in the first place... and this is the first installment.
'Devil Inside' draws together a dream team of sorts for those that
know their liquid funk: Calibre and long-time Soul:R instigator ST
Files. You will know 'Devil Inside' when it drops, just you wait.
Steel-plated bass underpinning a moody, restless and infectious piano
figure, you just know places like Intrigue in Bristol would die for
this vibe. On the flip we have another beguiling pairing, this time
Zero T and the man like BAILEY (got to shout it don't you?). Boy they
have gone IN on this killer: 'Wasp Factory' is super ugly, a definite
Exit-meets-Reinforced vibe about it... and if you know the techy,
refined, highly-crafted history of those two fine imprints you have to
get a bit excited at such a combined vibe. It's what Grooverider would
no doubt call a side stepper: hard as nails and buzzing with precise,
filtered breakage. Looks like Zero T has most definitely going to
leave some big footprints indeed with this essential 12.
